For many countries, the signature and seal of a Notary is sufficient for the document to be accepted. In other countries, the document will require the Notary’s signature and seal to be legalised. Legalisation is the process where the Notary’s identity is verified by a certificate being affixed known as an Apostille. In the UK, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office fulfils this role.
